to transform the $250bn market for consulting

Why? Well, frankly speaking
we didn’t think the way of procuring consultants
worked very well. This impacts clients, consulting
firms and, importantly, overall economic
Because most companies use external consultants relatively infrequently it is hard for them to know where to go. Thus, they typically default to big brand, big fee firms but often receive generic advice, or they go through a risky and time consuming word-of-mouth search for alternatives but are often disappointed with the quality and end result. At Outsized we think this simply isn’t good enough and we think it puts brakes on economic development.
We want make it easy for clients to find the very best boutique firms and specialists so that project outcomes are maximised, whether it be a growth, efficiency or skills building initiative. The consultants’ brand and business development budgets should not be driving the selection -- instead the focus must be on project specific requirements and proven delivery excellence.
The desire is to close skills and knowledge gaps and bring learnings and experience from other markets that allow for the acceleration of sustainable performance improvement and growth.
But how can transforming the consulting market have a positive social impact on affect economic development? It’s all about efficiency and scale. If each client can find the best local or international options for their requirements and budgets - project quality and outcomes are maximised. The results are that organisations can grow faster, become more efficient and profitable, employ and train more people. Do this for one client and you have a positive effect – do it at scale the impact can be profound.
